Overview

What is Multi-Store Sync?

Running more than one Shopify store usually means repeating the same catalog, customer and content work in every store. Multi-Store Sync lets you connect your stores to StoreSync and copy data from one primary store to all of them — then keeps supported changes flowing automatically.

Connect multiple stores

Link your Shopify stores into one group with a single primary store.

Manage store relationships

Open connected stores in Shopify Admin or disconnect them.

Sync resources across stores

Copy 14 Shopify resource types from the primary store to every connected store.

Real-time synchronization

Push product, collection and customer changes automatically as they happen.

Multi-Store Sync and the Sync Manager are included in the Basic ($19/month) and Pro ($49/month) plans. See pricing.

Overview

Primary & Child Stores

Every multi-store group has one Primary store and one or more connected child stores. The primary store is the source of truth: data always syncs from the primary store to its connected stores.

Primary store

  • Connects new child stores
  • Runs Resource Sync jobs
  • Controls Real-Time Resource Sync
  • Can disconnect child stores

Child stores

  • Receive synced data from the primary store
  • See that they are connected to the primary store
  • See real-time sync events where they were the target

Connect Stores

Stores are connected with a StoreSync App Key — a private key each store receives when StoreSync is installed. StoreSync must be installed on every store you want to connect, and a store's App Key is shown in its own Sync Manager.

  1. In the store you want to add, open Sync Manager and copy its StoreSync App Key (use the show/hide and copy buttons).
  2. In your primary store, open Sync Manager and choose Add New Child Store.
  3. Enter the Shopify Store URL (ending in .myshopify.com) and paste the StoreSync App Key.
  4. Click Connect Store. The store appears in your list of connected stores with a Connected status.

Treat the App Key like a password — anyone with a store's App Key and URL can connect it to their group. Only the primary store can add new stores.

Manage Connected Stores

The Multi-Store section of the Sync Manager lists every store in your group with its name, myshopify.com domain and connection status (Connected, Pending, Disconnected or Error), plus the date each child store was connected.

Manage Store

Opens that store's Sync Manager directly in Shopify Admin, in a new tab.

Disconnect Store

Removes a child store from the group — see Disconnect a Store.

Stores

Disconnect a Store

Choose Disconnect Store on a child store and confirm. The store will no longer be available for Multi-Store Sync Manager and stops receiving synced data.

  • The primary store can't be disconnected
  • Disconnecting doesn't delete any products, customers or other data already synced to that store

Resource Sync

Resource Sync copies resources from the primary store to all connected stores. Existing records are updated; new records are created.

How it works

  1. Open the Resource Sync tab in the primary store and select the resources to sync — or use Select All.
  2. Review the primary and connected stores in the confirmation dialog and choose Yes, sync now.
  3. The job runs in the background, with live progress, estimated time remaining and per-resource details. You can cancel it at any time.
  4. When it finishes, the Sync Summary shows total, updated, created and failed records.

Records are matched between stores by handle (products, collections, pages, blog posts, menus), email (customers), path (redirects), file name (files) or name/title for other resources.

Some resources have limitations, shown on each resource card: orders are created as pending without payment or fulfillment data, only open draft orders sync, discounts support basic code and automatic discounts, Companies require B2B on both stores, and translations sync for languages enabled on both stores.

Real-Time Sync

With Real-Time Resource Sync turned on, StoreSync listens for changes in your primary store using Shopify webhooks and automatically applies them to your connected stores. Events are processed in the background, so updates arrive in near real time.

Products Collections Customers
  • Event-driven — no need to start a sync manually
  • Webhook events are verified and de-duplicated, with loop protection between stores
  • Turn it on or off from the Configuration tab in the primary store
  • Use Refresh Real-Time Webhooks if updates stop arriving

Real-time sync keeps records that have already been synced up to date. Run a Resource Sync first so records are linked between stores. Deletions are not propagated to connected stores.

Sync Manager

Everything multi-store lives on the Sync Manager page in the StoreSync sidebar — your App Key, connected stores, sync configuration and sync activity, all in one place.

Real-Time Resource Sync on/off and webhook refresh.

Sync Status & History

Resource Sync jobs report their status live — in progress, completed, completed with errors, cancelled or failed — with a summary of records processed.

The Real-time Sync History tab lists every real-time event with its time, action, resource, source store, connected store and status. It refreshes automatically, and you can:

  • Search by resource, store or sync ID
  • Filter by date range, action (created, updated, deleted), status (success, failed, skipped, in progress), resource and connected store
  • Open any event to see its full sync details
